If you are a biology major in CLAS, you must have a minimum upper-level GPA of 3.5 and complete the equivalent of six credit hours of undergraduate research. The research credit hour requirement may be waived for students who have completed a minimum of 270 research hours as verified by your principal investigator. The distinction between summa and magna is determined by the recommendation from your thesis supervisor, confirmation by the Biology Major Executive Committee (BMEC), and the Undergraduate Coordinator.
