The Biology Secondary Education Track in the Biology Major
This CLAS track is for students who are interested in secondary school teaching with a subject area specialization in Biology, and intend to enter the state-approved and nationally accredited ProTeach program after graduation. Students in the ProTeach program take one additional year of education courses to earn a M.Ed. in Secondary Science Education. They are then eligible for a five-year Professional Certificate to teach biology, grades 6-12.
All students who are interested in eventually pursuing a career in secondary school teaching should contact an advisor in the College of Education.
Note that the College of Education is also developing a Science Education Minor [click here for PDF document]. Updates on this minor will be posted here.
